While your child grows you can almost expect that their fascination for sports will as well, for those of you that already have children that are playing sports, you know that it doesn't come cheap. The sporting world is in connection with today's economy and it's growing cost, however just like in any financial situation there are many ways around paying top dollar for the things your children need. Here is a small list of ways to help you fund your little athletes sporting expenses.
If your in need of simple items like playing balls, cleats or the proper protection, Craigslist is a perfect place to find second hand items or even new equipment for very low prices. Don't be ashamed to buy second hand if its something your child really needs.
While it may seem unsecured to buy online from ebay, if your smart about it and look for sellers with excellent feedback percentages, you really can't go wrong. Taking the time to find great deals online can save you loads of cash, earlier this year my friend was in need of a pair of soccer cleats, at the local sporting goods store the cheapest cleats were fifty dollars. After going onto ebay my friend found the most expensive pair of cleats at the store for less then thirty dollars, the best part, it was a double pack, so he got two pair for the price of one. If you look hard enough you can find ways to cancel that large expense you face at the beginning of the year when sports roll around.
- Scholarships (competitive sports teams)
In some cases you may have a child that is undoubtfully above average at his or her sport, in this situation your child is more likely wanting to play for the best teams(competitive leagues) and with this is a heavy cost. If this is you, there is definetly a way to let your child play at the highest level and keep your money. Almost every competitive sporting team awards scholarships for talented players, most parents dont realize this simply because they dont ask! Talk to the coach, talk to the director of the league and ask to work out a way that your child can play at this level and it doesn't burn your pockets out.
For those of you that still read the newspaper, you can almost bet that there's sporting goods for sell by owners, if you look hard enough the deals are everywhere. Granted, if you live in an area where sports aren't as popular as here in florida the newspaper might not be the place for you. However you can find people in the personal ads that only deal with sporting goods and can find you whatever you need for a fairly cheap price.
Parents often are not found in the sporting goods stores looking for equipment but clothing for their children, because as we all know where there's sports, there's usually a dirt or grass stain. But why pay so much money for athletic clothing that's only going to collect dirt? If image is more important then your financial situation, by all means keep buying fifty dollar shirts that eventually get ripped. If your more concerned with saving money in the long run, local thrift stores can offer you many shirts and shorts that your children can wear and tear but it wont bother you, because you got it for cheap =)
I hope my information will serve you well and open your eyes to stop paying so much for the things your child loves and needs. There's always a way to save and in the sporting world you must look at it as a long term deal, so get the best for every dollar you spend.
